CDs are "in the mail" ...

CDs are "in the mail" ...

... I buy my CD-Rs by the 100-ct spindle (because I burn a lot) and only when Office Depot (closest place to my house) has them on sale ... so I didn't have slim cases. When I went to look, they cost almost $15 for 25 of them ... NO WAY.

One lunch hour, some orange paper gleaned from a shelf in the office, and some re-cycled plastic DVD-style cases (thanks, AOL!) later and they got mailed out Friday, July 29th. I even "hand-colored" the CD-Rs with sharpie markers and then lovingly wrote, "COMPY" on each one. Knit THAT, why don'tcha! ;)

Since it seems that a lot of people mailed theirs out last minute (as I did), I may eventually get something useful out of this CD Swap. As mentioned previously, I have so far only received ONE CD, and because of some problem with the sender's "burning" process, there's nothing on the CD. My Bose 321 system says "BAD DISC" and it won't play in my computer or car. I mean, it looks like they spent some time on the CD cover so it has a nice look, but it's no good without any actual music.

Reminds me of one of my favorite lines from Beavis and Butthead ... Butthead: "You can't polish a turd, Beavis."

It's very intimidating to look at everyone's blog and see the really great pictures of what people are doing as far as covers on their CDs, but ... maybe it's just me ... I just want some really great music, even if it comes in just a plain white paper sleeve.

Comment here here! You could have a crappy cover and great music or a fancy cover and crappy music. I hope the people who got mine will like the cover and the music! But like you, I have only received one mix too. But guess what? The cd I mailed to Sweden made it without the customs form! And in 3 freakin' days! The post office can still amaze.

Comment Well, I received your CD today. I have yet to listen to it but I'm excited to see Kid Koala on there. I saw him live in Boston and loved him! Of course, I bought a CD and it wasn't nearly as good as seeing him live. I thought your cd packaging was very original and I think I'll start saving my junk mail for the same thing! You went above and beyond what I did for my cd's. I just cut out neat things in magazines and taped the playlist to the back. I don't have much in the way of printing options. Anyway thanks!! :)

Comment ...thanks, Jen, for going to the trouble you are when I know you don't have to. I reckon I should bother my CD sender ... I'll email her right now. It's just more melodramatic to bitch and complain a lot about it, instead. (!) :)

Comment why don't you email the persn who sent you a bad cd and ask them to re-burn it for you? perhaps they didn't check. i should have wrote thatup as a reminder if anyone looked at the cd swap blog. sometimes people are just so excite they don't think of doing the obvious, such as checkign them. you'll be getting both of my cd's in the mail soon so it will make up for a bum cd.
